LIVINGSTON, TX – A recent string of bear sightings in Polk County has been solved, as local authorities discovered the culprit to be none other than Clyde Jenkins, a resident of the small town of Goodrich. Jenkins, known for his elaborate pranks and love for wildlife, was found wandering the woods near Lake Livingston State Park dressed in a bear costume.
The confusion began when multiple reports came in of a large bear roaming the area, leading to a flurry of activity from concerned residents and wildlife officials. After setting up motion-activated cameras and conducting surveillance, the truth was finally revealed when Jenkins was spotted by a group of curious hikers.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw Clyde walking around in that bear suit,” said Sarah Thompson, one of the hikers who witnessed the bizarre sight. “I guess he just wanted to have a little fun and spice things up around here.”
When questioned about his motivations, Jenkins claimed that he was inspired by a recent article he read on eastexasnews.com about the increase in bear sightings in the area. “I thought it would be hilarious to see how people would react,” he explained with a mischievous grin.
Despite the harmless nature of Jenkins’ prank, local authorities are reminding residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious wildlife activity. “We appreciate a good joke as much as anyone else, but we also want to ensure the safety of our community,” said Sheriff Bill Thompson in a statement to polkcountytoday.com.
In the meantime, Jenkins has promised to keep his bear costume in the closet and find a new way to entertain the folks of Polk County.
