POLK COUNTY, TX – In a misguided attempt to up his fishing game, local resident Billy Bob Jenkins thought he had struck gold when he came across an old trick of using dynamite to catch fish. Little did he know, however, that his plan would backfire – quite literally.
According to witnesses, Jenkins was seen on the banks of Lake Livingston, eagerly dropping sticks of dynamite into the water with a sense of excitement. “He was grinning from ear to ear, thinking he was about to reel in the biggest haul of his life,” said onlooker Mary Lou Johnson.
But as soon as Jenkins tossed the lit dynamite into the water, chaos erupted. The explosion not only sent fish flying in all directions but also managed to startle a nearby group of ducks, causing a commotion that could be heard for miles.
“I ain’t never seen anything like it,” said local fisherman Jeb Tucker. “Them fish were jumping everywhere, and those ducks were squawking like there was no tomorrow. It was a regular old circus out there.”
Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident, but Jenkins was quickly apprehended by local authorities and charged with illegal fishing practices. When asked about his unconventional methods, Jenkins simply shrugged and said, “I reckon I got a little too carried away. But hey, at least I got a story to tell now.”
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents that dynamite fishing is not only illegal but also extremely dangerous. They urge anyone looking to reel in a big catch to stick to traditional methods and leave the explosives to the professionals.
