POLK COUNTY, TX – Livingston High School’s robotics team, affectionately known as the “LionBots,” have clawed their way to the top, securing a first-place win in the esteemed Texas Statewide Robotics Competition held on May 13, 2025. This prestigious event brought together the brightest young minds across the state, and our very own Polk County students shone brightly, proving once again the exceptional quality of education and commitment to innovation in our local schools.
The competition took place in Austin but the real buzz was felt back here in Polk County. The LionBots, comprised of students from across Livingston, Onalaska, and the surrounding Lake Livingston area (ZIP 77351), showcased their robotic creation aptly named “Polk Pride.” This impressive piece of machinery was meticulously designed, programmed, and operated by the team, demonstrating an advanced understanding of mechanical engineering and computer programming. Polk Pride stood out in all categories, including design, control, and strategy, bringing honor to the Livingston High School and the wider community.
The LionBots’ victory is the culmination of months of hard work and dedication. Under the guidance of their coach, Mr. Jeffery Davis, a well-respected Physics teacher at Livingston High School, the team dedicated countless after-school hours in the robotics lab.
