LIVINGSTON, TX — In a shocking turn of events, Polk County resident and self-proclaimed internet sleuth, Billy Joe Jenkins, uncovered the truth behind popular news website eastexasnews.com – it’s all about the “world’s largest” things.
Jenkins, a lifelong resident of Livingston, stumbled upon the revelation while attempting to fact-check a story about the latest high school football scores. Instead of finding the information he sought, he found himself inundated with articles showcasing oddities such as the world’s largest ball of twine, the world’s largest rubber band ball, and even the world’s largest frying pan.
“I just wanted to know if the Lions won their game, but all I got was this list of big stuff,” Jenkins lamented. “I mean, who really cares about giant rubber bands anyway?”
Upon further investigation, Jenkins also discovered that the infamous polkcountytoday.com was actually just a front for a local beekeeping operation. The website, known for its cryptic crime reports and questionable advice columns, was apparently a cover for selling homemade honey out of a shed behind the editor’s house.
When asked for comment, the editor of polkcountytoday.com, Betsy Sue Thompson, simply shrugged and said, “Hey, a bee’s gotta make a living too.”
As for eastexasnews.com, the site’s founder, Mark Johnson, defended the content, stating, “We may not have breaking news, but by golly, we have the biggest news around!”
As the truth behind these local news sources comes to light, one thing is for certain – in East Texas, it’s not about the accuracy of the news, but the size of the story.
