LIVINGSTON, TX – In a stunning display of skill and resourcefulness, a local woman from Polk County has shattered all previous records by catching an unprecedented number of catfish using only a corn dog stick as her fishing rod. Enid Jenkins, a lifelong resident of Livingston, achieved this remarkable feat on a recent fishing trip to Lake Livingston.
Jenkins, known for her love of fishing and inventive techniques, was inspired to try using a corn dog stick after forgetting her regular fishing rod at home. Undeterred, she decided to make the most of the situation and fashioned the stick into a makeshift fishing rod using nothing but a piece of dental floss.
“I was just out there enjoying the day, munching on a corn dog, when I realized I didn’t have my fishing rod with me,” Jenkins explained. “I thought, well, why not give it a shot with this stick? And boy, am I glad I did!”
To the amazement of other fishermen nearby, Jenkins began casting her corn dog stick into the water and reeling in catfish after catfish. Witnesses reported that she caught a total of 20 catfish in just under an hour, breaking the previous record of 12 set back in 1998 by old man Jenkins (no relation).
“I couldn’t believe my eyes,” said Billy Bob Tucker, a fellow angler who witnessed Jenkins in action. “She was pulling in those catfish like it was nothing. I’ve never seen anything like it in all my years of fishing.”
The news of Jenkins’ remarkable achievement has spread like wildfire throughout Polk County, with many residents now considering ditching their traditional fishing rods in favor of corn dog sticks. Local bait shops have even reported a surge in sales of corn dogs and dental floss.
When reached for comment, Jenkins simply shrugged and said, “I guess sometimes you just have to go with the flow. And if that means using a corn dog stick to catch fish, then so be it.”
