LIVINGSTON, TX (June 8, 2025) – Heads up, 77351: Strong to severe storms are expected to move into our area late tonight and linger into the early morning hours. If you live in Livingston, Onalaska, Goodrich, or anywhere in Polk County or the surrounding Piney Woods, it’s time to stay weather-aware.
What’s Coming:
A fast-moving line of thunderstorms is developing north of us and is set to push south, reaching our area between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. While some weakening is likely as the system travels south, the most powerful storms may still pack a punch—damaging winds and large hail are the main concerns for our community.
Counties at Risk:
- Polk
- San Jacinto
- Trinity
- Liberty
Even as storms lose steam, scattered showers could reach all the way to the I-10 corridor and may complicate early morning travel.
Stay Ready:
“Don’t sleep on this one,” warns local weather spotter Terri Peden. “Keep your weather alerts turned on and have a shelter plan in place—just in case.”
Set your phone to receive emergency weather alerts, and make sure family members know where to go if severe weather strikes overnight.
Looking Ahead:
The weather stays on high alert Monday, too. After a muggy morning, we’ll see highs in the low 90s with the return of heavy afternoon thunderstorms. There’s a continued risk for:
- Flash flooding
- Damaging winds
- Large hail
What to Do:
- Bring in loose outdoor items tonight.
- Charge phones and flashlights before bed.
- Review your family’s shelter plan.
- Avoid early morning travel if storms are still active.
Bottom Line:
Tonight through Monday is a high-risk window for strong storms and severe weather. Let’s keep each other safe, 77351. Stay alert, check in on neighbors, and don’t ignore those overnight warnings.
